Hi we are Jenny & Julian and would like to welcome you to Chalet Berwyn. Our aim is to provide you with a relaxing, hassle free and thoroughly enjoyable chalet holiday. Jenny has been skiing since she was 14 and after teaching, running a café and working in several ski resorts she met Julian. They then set up the Activity Pub business in Wales, running activity breaks for groups of friends, stag parties etc. Julian, having worked for 20 years in London, saw the light and escaped to a better life. He was a late starter to skiing but is an enthusiastic intermediate skier who will try anything but hasn’t got much style!!

Chalet

The chalet is warm, relaxing and “home from home” it is made up of Entrance hall with cloakroom for boots, jackets etc. Large open plan living room, equipped with DVD, video, CD and tape players. Wifi is available throughout the chalet for those that need to stay in touch. Dining area and kitchen, and a large south facing balcony, ideal for afternoon tea or early evening drinks.

The master bedroom has a double and single bed and en-suite shower room. There is a separate toilet. On the second floor there are 3 good sized bedrooms each with a double and single bed. A bathroom and a separate toilet.

Cuisine

In the winter we provide breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal 6 days per week. (We have a day off!) We provide beer and mixers to go with your duty free. Breakfast Cereals, fruit juice, tea and coffee, bread and croissants, yoghurts and a different cooked meal each day. Afternoon tea Tea, coffee and chocolate, home made cake or biscuits. Dinner A 3 course evening meal with good quality wine and coffee. Early evening tea is available for children. Please don’t forget to let us know if you require a special diet — we are more than happy to cater for you.

Winter and skiing

Chalet Berwyn is ideally situated for skiing several resorts. We offer door to slope service, we drop you off and pick you up at the end of the day in whatever resort or bar you wish. All major winter sports are catered for in the area including downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ski touring, heli skiing, ski mountaineering, tobogganing and ice skating. You might like to try your hand at the nearby ice driving circuit or maybe a snowmobile ride.

The area has something to offer skiers of all abilities with excellent skiing conditions for intermediates and beginners, as well as having plenty of slopes for advanced skiers and off piste areas for the brave -just ask about a guide. Snowboarders are well catered for with several half pipes and free style areas.

We have made arrangements with a local ski hire shop who will provide a discount to our guests. There are a number of ski schools in the area and we are more than happy to recommend one that suits your needs Eurekaski is an English ski school based in Monetier, we recommend them for private lessons in specialist areas, off piste, or all terrain being two of the courses on offer. There are plenty of apres ski activities from ice karting to a relax soak in a thermal baths dating back to Roman times.

Summer and Activities

rafting Activities start in late May with the seasoned canoeists and go through to October when the cooler weather allows climbers and walkers the chance to be active without melting in the heat.

The area is a mecca for activities for all the family ,mountain climbing, white water rafting, canoeing, Via Ferrata, mountain biking and mountain walks. There are adventure parcs, rope courses…the list is endless. Mountain bikes are available to hire from May onwards and lifts start to open up at the end of June
There are some superb facilities in Briancon, a fantastic swimming complex (indoor swimming lanes, recreation pool and an outdoor pool), indoor and outdoor tennis, bowling alley, cinema, casino and theatre.

Further up the valley the famous thermal baths at Monetier and outdoor pool and lake at Villeneuve and down the valley the lake at Embrun is well renowned for sailing, windsurfing and other water sports.For the hardy golfers 2 nine hole courses at Montgenevre and Claviere, uphill of course! For those wanting wheels or legs go kart and quad biking circuits and several stables for horse riding are also nearby
