I love chalet holidays so much I sold up in the UK and in December 2000 I found and bought Chalet Chataigne. Because I own and live in the chalet every penny you pay for your holiday goes into running the Chalet and making your holiday even better, which is why most of my business comes from people who have already stayed with us or who have recommended us to their friends.

My philosophy is to provide you with a warm, comfortable and homely chalet with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where you can escape to quiet areas of the chalet or join in the fun and where the food, wine and service is exceptional.

Our service to you

All of our guests have been astounded by the amount of organising we do before they even arrive from pre-booking lessons and equipment to special menus and activities.

Whether you are an experienced skier or a complete beginner, we organise as much as we can for you, take you to all the hire shops, take you to the lifts, ski or snowboard with you, pick you up from the bar in the evening, give you tea and cakes, drive you to the spa or brewery, drive you back to the chalet and then feed you a fantastic dinner with excellent corked A/C wines.

Chalet Chataigne (Chalet Chestnut)

The chalet is situated only a few minutes walk above the village centre of Chatel and faces south east down the valley towards the skiing region of Linga and the Portes du Soleil, giving unrivalled southerly views of the village and mountains from the chalet balconies and patio. The original chalet-farm originates from around 1791 and has 8 bedrooms over 3 floors. A variety of sleeping arrangements can be provided. Individuals, couples, families or whole groups normally make up around 16 to 20 people. All bedrooms except one are south facing and over half have direct access to a balcony, some are en-suite and others share 2 bathrooms to 3 or 4 bedrooms. The chalet also has a Sauna, a lounge/bar, a separate dining area for up to 20 people, a separate TV/games mezzanine with videos, books and games, a heated boot room with a ski workshop and a ski/board store room. The tap water comes from the same mountain region as Evian mineral water and the chalet has central heating and two new wood burners in the lounge/bar and dining rooms. Unfortunately being an old wooden building smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the chalet, a smoking area is provided outside.
