FAQs
How do I book?
You can send a message via our web direct to the owner (or phone them). All of the chalet owners prefer you to talk to them before booking. It gives you the confidence to know exactly what you are booking. They can answer all your questions – there is no marketing middle man trying to sell you something that doesn’t exist.
How do I pay for my holiday?
You pay the chalet owner direct. All of the chalets are professional and have terms and conditions of booking. Most ask for a deposit to hold your booking followed by a final payment (usually 8 weeks before your holiday). Check with each owner for their payment information.
What if I have to cancel?
Remember to book your insurance the same day you book your holiday, you are then covered for any unforeseen eventuality.
How do I organise my transfers, ski hire, lift passes, etc?
Discuss all of this and more when you contact the owner. They are the experts who live in resort and can arrange all of the things that make your life simple.
What about childcare?
Each chalet owner will offer something for childcare, either through a local partner childcare company or private nanny at their chalet. Just ask and explain what you want.
Can the chalet owners cater for unusual dietary needs?
All chalet owners are professional in supporting guests with dietary needs. Explain your particular requirements. It’s best to let the owner know in advance so that they can plan for you.
My flights arrive really early in the morning. Can I gain access to the chalet early?
Ask your chalet owners - each have their own timings, but there is usually a planned arrangement for guests arriving early and leaving late. There may be additional charges but just ask.
Can I customise my holiday?
The great thing about booking with a private company is that they have the ability to match your needs to make your holiday work for you. If they can’t accommodate some obscure needs then they will be honest with you because they are the people who will meet and greet you. They are not a faceless corporate organisation.
Do any companies offer weekend holidays?
Search on the dates you want or look at the Flexible Breaks page. Some chalet owners specialise in weekends and flexible start dates. In addition, lots of the chalet owners that show week by week dates very often also offer weekends if there is availability last minute.
A private chalet – it sounds expensive – is it?
We are proud to offer you a selection of holidays to suit all. You can choose self-catered or catered. The range of styles and prices are defined by the chalet symbols which range from one (homely value ) to four (VIP – the works). And remember, these small private businesses don’t have offices, expense accounts or shareholders, your money goes directly to pay for your holiday.
Why would I want to go private and not a tour operator?
Lots of skiers are more discerning travellers who book their own flights and transport and hotels. They do not want to follow the herd into tour operator world as another number. Our skiers want to feel special and important and to know that someone cares about the importance of their important holiday. All our chalets are small owner-operator companies who care about their business and customers because they personally take pride in delivering the service. Tour operators have too many layers, are too corporate and can’t compete with the level of ‘hands on service’ that our owners provide. No one works harder for you than the small family business.
