Chalet Group promotes owner-run chalet businesses, both owner-run chalets and boutique chalet companies.

We are Kate and Andrew Thorley, we owned and ran Chalet Piton for 7 years as a successful proprietor-run ski chalet holiday business. In 2004 we set up Chalet Group as a promotion tool for other private chalets. We both have a history of experience in business planning, operations and start-up companies, and have presented many seminars on how to set up and run your own ski chalet business. Chalet Group is a shop window for skiers who are looking for a truly independent owner-run ski chalet.

Our Aims

Our aims are based on what we can achieve as a group instead of as individual small businesses. We all know we have a great product and good retention, but we are fighting for business on an unfair playing field. The big tour operators get all the PR, have huge advertising budgets and have high street travel agents and ski shows to sell at. Together we can level the pitch - we can win more guests and keep them. Then, as these guests want to explore other resorts, we share them around.

The aims are;
1) To establish, build and maintain the Chalet Group brand as the place to find owner-run ski chalet holidays
2) To compete directly with the large tour operators and to poach skiers from them
3) To establish guest loyalty and high retention rates of skiers who make Chalet Group chalets their preferred holiday, whether staying in the same or different resorts each season

The website is designed as an empty shell for members to fill. Each member uploads their own text and images then arranges them to form their web pages. They enter their prices and keep their availability up to date. All contact by an interested skier is direct with the chalet owner so there can be no confusion or mis-information from a salesman or agency.
